Live Greener, Live Longer

One of the benefits of living green is that it can extend your life. This may be surprising, but it is true. There are many things that not only help the earth but also help you! Eating fresh organic foods, reducing drive, and many other things will help you grow greener, more!

By eating healthy organic foods, you not only help your body by providing fresh foods, you save the earth from being contaminated by pesticides. Organic foods help keep the environment free of antibiotics and growth hormones. Plus, you prevent all the bad things from getting inside you! By eating fresh organic foods, you avoid all processed foods that do a better job of clogging your arteries than they provide nutrients.

Try to drive less. By combining your tasks, you not only save fuel and reduce traffic on the road; you put pressure on yourself from handling traffic jams and other drivers. Carpool or use public transit when you can. If you choose to ride a bike or walk for some of your work, you also get the exercise you need. This will help keep your heart healthy and keep you flexible and strong.

Collecting the leftovers you can save on your waste and giving you great soil next season for your own garden. It also stores a lot of good stuff from garbage disposal. Just keep adding fruits and vegetables, egg whites, coffee grounds, and cereals to the compost heap. You can also add grass and clippings for your lawn. Don't add meat or bones ... they will attract insects like flies and will take longer to compost. Compost water goes down once in a while to activate the enzyme. Come spring, you'll have some nice compost to add to your own vegetable garden for a healthier meal.

Other things you can do will only make your home more comfortable. Larger windows can help keep out the natural light so you don't have to turn on your lights at first. Using a compact fluorescent bulb can save you money and will save you energy. Use energy-efficient appliances and do not let your air conditioner stay away from home. You will be amazed at how much these effects affect your energy consumption.

Small things like recycling cans, bottles and plastic packaging help reduce your waste bill and help reduce your carbon footprint. Use cloth bags when you shop instead of picking up their paper or plastic bags. Some stores even knock a few cents when you use your own bag. All of this will help reduce pollution, which is healthier for you as you will breathe clean air.

Once you start, you will be amazed at how easy it is to live more green. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel ... both physically and mentally. In addition, you will feel better knowing that you are doing your part to have a healthier planet for living. So go on ... live more green and live longer. You will be glad to give it a try.
