Help For Children and Obesity

Children and obesity have recently become a topic of discussion everywhere. News about obesity rates among children is a major topic of concern. But how do we fight childhood obesity?

Doctors all agree that overweight children are an outbreak in America that could endanger our country's future. Obesity leads to shorter lives and more health problems such as diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure and stroke.

Doctors now predict that because of obesity among our teens, this will be the first generation that will not overcome their parents.

This is a tragedy.

As a mother of twins who are also overweight, I realize that diet can't solve problems because eating is something they love to do. Try to get them to eat healthy foods like pulling teeth.

Because I can't monitor my kids every meal, I find myself competing with television commercials, after school snacks, sweet drinks, soda and many more foods.

So getting my kids to eat healthier is not the only answer, though it may be the cause of the problem.

Next I tried to work out. The hard part was finding the fun and exciting exercises that my twin kids wanted to do.

I'm trying to force my kids to be active and go out and play more. I also bought a new bike for them to ride, hoping it would work an extra pound of useless as the bike was located on my driveway after the first few days of riding.

Summer is also a problem for outdoor activities.

Then I remembered one of the old exercises I had as an amateur boxer I had ever enjoyed - Jump rope.

I teach my kids to jump rope every day for 5 minutes. We would go one minute and rest for a minute then continue for one minute until we were up to five minutes.

It actually works.

The first month, I realized that my kids had lost an inch in their waist. This is a big surprise because belly fat is a major problem with my kids. Not to mention that I also lost inches in my own waist.

After further research I found that rope was popular among athletes of all sports.

It is a comprehensive exercise that does not require hours of preparation, and can be achieved within minutes of what other exercises take.

But the best thing about jumping rope is the fat burning properties it creates. With just a jump rope and a pair of decent tennis shoes, a hormone known as HGH is released that burns fat hours after training.

Because HGH burns fat even when they watch TV or play X-box, we agree that for every minute they jump rope, they get an extra minute of TV or X-box time.

This made my twins work out for 5 minutes with no hassle.

I feel better now that jumping rope has helped with my obese child weight problem.

They actively participate in exercise that will help them lose weight and develop healthy activities that will reward them with a longer life.

Pay attention because it's important ...
