Organic Food 101

Organic food is the fastest growing need in the world. More and more people are turning to organic diets every day. Growing demand continues to grow with the same increase in supply. This is why more and more organic farms are being created. Increased supply has increased the capacity and availability of the commodity. The growing awareness of the negative effects of conventional foods has led to a rapid increase in demand for healthy products. At present, demand is so high that it exceeds supply. This is believed to be unexpected as product prices are around 20-100% more than traditional foods.

What is Organic Food?

It is a food that aims to support the sustainability of the human body and the environment through the production of food that does not cause any adverse effect on the environment. Organic agriculture has been developed with the aim of bettering the planet. This is because traditional agriculture that contains many synthetic and toxic chemicals is very harmful to the environment. Chemicals pollute the soil, kill microorganisms and eliminate them from food. This will eventually lead to the destruction and death of the land. Dead soil is a land that can no longer support crop growth. Some chemicals also evaporate and contribute to problems that are already urgent in air pollution. The worst happens when chemicals can reach and pollute groundwater.

What does organic term mean?

Organic is a term used to describe foods that are produced and processed in such a way that they do not affect the environment. There are strict rules to follow and bad qualifications that need to be obtained before a farm can obtain organic title and obtain the right to label its produce. The first soil is required to safely and illegally contain any chemicals or synthetic substances for at least one set of years (usually two years). Then the process used in the field is tested. No pesticides or artificial fertilizers should be used on plants and no growth hormones and antibiotics should be given to livestock.

Genetically modified organisms are prohibited

Genetically modified organisms or GMs should not exist anywhere on the farm. GMs are plants or animals that have been subjected to genetic engineering to apply specific changes to their DNA. Conventional farms tend to be subject to crops and their livestock for genetic engineering to enhance their desirable traits. Genetic engineering is still new science and it has not been determined that GM intake has no adverse effect on humans.
