Lionel Messi the Successor of Diego Maradona

Lionel Messi was born in the city of Rosario on June 24, 1987. He started football at the age of five for Grandoli, a club coached by his father. Messi switched to Oldell New Boys in 1995. At age 11, he was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency. Each month Messi needs treatment for a disease that costs more than 500 Pounds. The River Plate showed interest in Messi's progress, but did not have enough money to pay for his treatment. FC Barcelona were told Messi's talents. After watching him play, Barcelona signed him and offered to pay his medical bills if he was ready to move to Spain.

Messi is an outstanding quality player. He's very creative, and has the skills to take defenders with ease. He is a versatile left-footed player who can play either in the middle or on the wing, or as the center forward. Messi lacks altitude with his speed and agility. The sudden change in circumstances made it a real problem for defenders. In addition, his strong shot makes him completely unique in free throws and corner situations. He made comparisons to Diego Maradona, and in fact Maradona himself called Messi a "successor."

In club football, Messi made his debut against Espanyol on October 16, 2004, becoming the youngest player ever to play for FC Barcelona and the youngest club player in La Liga at the time (a record broken by teammate Bojan Krkic in September 2007 ). He scored his first goal against Albacete Balompié on May 1, 2005. Messi was 17, 10 months and 7 days old at the time, becoming the youngest player to ever score in La Liga games for FC Barcelona until 2007 when Bojan Krkic broke this record.

Messi won the Under-20 World Cup in the Netherlands with Argentina. He was named a leading scorer and voted the best player in the tournament. At 18, he is one of the hottest in the world of gaming. Shortly thereafter, he made his first full international appearance in a friendly against Hungary. In 2005, José Pekerman summoned Messi to the Argentine national team. He made his debut on August 17, 2005 against Hungary. He was sent off in the 63rd minute, just 40 seconds after he came in as a substitute. The referee met Messi to arrest the defender, Vilmos Vanczák, who threw Messi's shirt off. She left the field disappointed and cried.

Since then, Lionel Messi has grown into a more complete and mature player. There are still many years in his career. Everyone is waiting for him to emulate Diego Maradona's success by leading Argentina to win the World Cup again.
