Diabetes & Insulin Resistance - The Blood Sugar Secret Drew Carey Figured Out

Recently reruns were played by The Price Right. When I saw my Drew Carey jerk, I couldn't believe how much weight he had gained. All I was thinking was, "He's a heart attack!" Then I saw a post on Facebook saying that he had cured his own diabetes and had lost 80 pounds - the new skinny Drew was almost unrecognizable. Drunk weight loss Drew made headlines on television, the web, and heath magazines.

Over the years I have watched Drew lose weight and worry he might be another cardiovascular victim like John Ritter, John Candy, or Dom DeLuise. But insulin resistance and his friend's heart disease is not exclusive to celebrities. Nearly 8% of Americans have been officially diagnosed with diabetes and the # 1 cause of death is heart disease.

Insulin resistance is when cells become resistant to hormone insulin. This occurs from repeated spikes and decreased blood sugar levels from eating refined carbohydrates, aka: snacks. The body adapts to high levels of insulin by increasing the insulin receptors in the cells. The desire for sugar, diabetes, inability to lose weight, fat around the abdomen can be signs of insulin resistance. Severe insulin resistance leads to type II diabetes and hypoglycemia.

Back to Drew Carey, I didn't know he had diabetes. It is exciting and refreshing to know what to do by eliminating the high glycemic fat that causes carbohydrates. Terms low and no carbohydrate diet actually cheating. Carbohydrates are almost every food at a certain level; some are higher than others. The more appropriate term would be the "no grain" or "starch" diet. Even though Drew ate vegetables, he still had carbohydrates. But if he cut out all the corn, pasta, sugar, bread, and potatoes, he would eliminate diabetes / fat causing problems.

Drew also did something right because he used it. Exercise is a proven way to increase insulin resistance. It helps to correct blood sugar problems over time. For example, in 2007, I was diabetic. My insulin resistance problem was so severe that my blood sugar level would rise to 200 and drop below 50 - all on the same day. Sometimes at the same time! Not good. The result: severe panic / anxiety attacks and 55 kg excess weight. Not only that, but I have too much candida, hormone imbalance, and bad mood! I'm sure Drew doesn't have a problem either, right? Unfortunately, all of these issues are related and millions of people experience one or all of them.

Diabetes poses a greater risk of depression and other mental disorders. It makes sense that the blood sugar level is directly affected by neurotransmitters (adrenaline the brain chemicals) and hormones (HGH and cortisol). Let's say that Drew has "blues", he may now have a better view of his life now that he has a blood sugar level.
