Studies show that disc disease is the cause of back pain and costs America over $ 65 billion a year. About 700,000 Americans receive spinal surgery each year and cost around $ 25,000 and can range up to $ 100,000 for infected rods or other joint devices. Insurance companies may not cover all the expenses, so patients end up paying most for procedures that can provide very little hope for a normal life in the future. A recent 2006 study from Journal Spine found that the use of implant hardware in spinal surgery for back pain did not improve the outcome and increased risk of complications. Dr Gary M Franklin, medical director of the Washington Department of Labor and Industry, who funded the study, said, "It is clear that the device does not benefit patients". He added that "high rates of long-term disability in all patients, regardless of whether or not the appliance is used, is of little benefit. This procedure does not help much". When surgery fails to help it is often diagnosed as Recovery Failure Syndrome or F.B.S.S. for short, which is a true diagnosis.
Today progress in spinal attractiveness has led to promising results for patients with hernias and degenerative discs. Non-surgical disk compression is one such treatment, increasingly advertised, that has brought relief to many people with debilitating back pain. However, compression / traction often only results in temporary results as gravity will continue to compress the weak disc and the injured spine over time. Subluxation, abnormal spinal angle, and loss of the normal tuanoid arch of the spine will gradually collapse with gravity again. I have received patients or have had patients return to me who have spent thousands of dollars on compression therapy only to experience their problems and pain within three to six months. I started calling this Failed Recovery Syndrome or F.B.D.S.!
It is important to know that the muscles support and maintain the spinal cord. Ninety percent of disc problems are due to postural fractures of normal tuanoid arches in the cervical and lumbar spine. Therefore, without the correction of postural curves with muscle recovery, the decompression / traction effect will disappear over time and again, degenerative processes will progress. To permanently fix the lumbar spine, at least 60% of the normal cervical spine correction must be achieved. This is why, for many cases of acoustic lumbar disc decompression of the lumbar disc is performed only during acute pain episodes. When pain reduction occurs, the patient is then compressed from the lower cervical spine, to correct and restore the cervical curve, the original cause. In other words, you must correct the neck with postural rehabilitation and arch correction, in order to stabilize and enhance the benefits of lumbar spinal compression!
The Pettibon System of Chiropractic Spinal Rejuvenation goes beyond simple compression with Spinal Rejuvenation Table (SRT) using Whole Body Vibration (WBV). With higher contraction of the muscles involved with WBV, muscle fatigue occurs 50% faster which allows the spasms and muscles to relax, enabling faster compression of the compressed disc and greater pain relief. This essentially reduces the compression time from the standard 30 minutes of traditional methods, to 15 minutes or less with the use of WBV. The whole body of Vibrations was developed over 40 years ago in the Soviet Union to train their Olympic athletes and recover space-born cosmonauts who usually suffer from muscle atrophy and bone loss from zero gravity. With the right vibration frequency, WBV has been shown to increase endocrine activity. Growth hormones increased by 361%, testosterone increased by 7%, cortisol, pressure-producing hormones decreased by 32%, blood flow increased by 100%, and back pain decreased by 66%.
Traditional healing involves resistance training through various movements (ie weights, machines, bands, etc.), which work only with fast-moving muscles. Practicing fast contraction muscles will make you stronger but they will not alter the structure or remove the cause of your disc problem. These muscles will help you carry your groceries better, as your spinal structure continues to decline and your body aches. The spinal muscles that support the spinal cord and determine your posture and health are slow postural muscles. This slow-growing muscle requires isometric exercises (sustained resistance) to strengthen and restore postural health. Once the spine has been amputated, specific head, shoulders, and hips, tailored to each patient, are an essential part of the corrective isometric exercise program designed to predict optimal spinal and postural alignment, permanently!
Chiropractic Pettibon Spine Correction in conjunction with Spina Pettibon Rejuvenation Table (SRT), using overall Body Vibration and Compression, is the only proven system, with evidence-based research, to achieve predictable disk re-lighting, structural correction, and nerve recovery and physiological health and function, which are attached.
At Gold Coast Chiropractic Center, we are dedicated to reaching, teaching, and touching as many people as possible, bringing hope and recovery to those whose standard medical care and routine chiropractic care have proved inadequate.
