Caffeine and Timing

Millions of people depend on caffeine for energy every day. It is the most widely used drug on the planet. Is it really good for us? Like many things, in simple terms, maybe. Since most of us get our caffeine out of coffee, I'll just use this drink for the article.

Coffee seems to be a very popular subject in the media. One week you may hear that drinking coffee will help with losing fat. A few weeks later there will be another story in it that can actually make you lose weight. What do you believe? I personally believe that having one day, black or cream and no sugar, will not increase his waistline.

If you put on weight and insist that coffee is responsible, you may be drinking too much of Caramel-Mocha Frappucinos with extra cream. Depending on the black skin or long espressos and you should be fine.

Coffee and cortisol

Why are we taking caffeine? Simply put, it is a stimulant that can help us wake up or give us an early start. What do many people do to pick me when they're tired? They take something sweet, drink caffeine, or smoke a cigarette. Some will have all three at once! Caffeine, sugar and tobacco are all stimulants, which burn your sympathetic nervous system (your fight or flight response). This triggers the release of the activation hormone, cortisol, which affects your brain that it's time to wake up, or it's time to act.

Cortisol is released in response to pressure and light. It is at its peak in the morning from about 6am to 9am and then falls mid-afternoon and lowest after sunset. When cortisol drops, melatonin is released which increases the level of repair and growth hormone. If we continue to have coffee in the evening, we will continue to release cortisol, which will disrupt our sleep cycle. Caffeine can stay in your system for up to 18 hours (depending on how much you eat).

Weight or weight

I'm not an expert on coffee but I was naked for a minute. Coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that has been proven to help with weight loss (my notice is not to say I lost FAT). Caffeine also increases cortisol. Prolonged exposure to cortisol increases fat around the umbilical cord. So, I guess you could say that excessive consumption of coffee can increase fat around the middle? I think so.

So to repeat from the top, if we are stressed and we go for coffee, we can actually increase our chances of getting more fat around the middle. I think if I were to put it that way, most of us might consider giving it our favorite afternoon drink ... Maybe.

The benefits of coffee

Now, I also have to point out that some U.S. studies have shown that many people get most of the antioxidants from coffee, so if they eliminate them from their diet, they may have other problems. Also, some studies on pubmed indicate that coffee consumption can help prevent chronic diseases such as type-2 diabetes and Parkinson's disease. More recent studies have also shown that coffee drinkers are less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

To give up or not to give up?

I think that giving coffee is harder than cutting carbohydrates. I personally chose to give it a few months and switched to green tea. I'm actually a coffee lover because of that taste - not because of the stimulant factor. This makes it even harder to say goodbye to my favorite black liquid!

So as you can see there are pros and cons to coffee consumption. If you continue to drink coffee but want to retain any possible side effects, I have made some suggestions below:

  1. Make sure your coffee is black without sugar. Adding cinnamon and cream is OK.

  2. Don't have two small cups a day

  3. Always eat it with solid foods and never have an empty stomach

  4. Have 45 minutes before exercise. Because it produces cortisol, you can also use it for an effective training session!

  5. Never do it after a workout - if you are trying to get your muscles do NOT want cortisol (muscle-destroying hormone) to hang on to after your heavy session!

  6. Do not eat after lunch because it may interfere with your sleep cycle.

  7. Try drinking organic coffee. This will be better for the degree as it will not contain chemicals from herbicides and fungal toxins that are sprayed on the plant during the agricultural process.
