Most People Never Try Live Strap Training.
When was the last time you jumped a rope? For most people the answer is going back to Primary or maybe Junior High. It's actually too bad, because it's a very effective form of training. Most people can easily walk for 15 minutes, but I would bet less than 1 percent of adults can jump rope for 15 minutes straight. Very few people, other than boxers, have ever used jump ropes to reach the top.
Is Muscle Bending Working?
Jumping a rope will seriously work every muscle in the body. I'm sure it will expose your weak link. To be honest, I think my whole body aches. I am very bad on my calf muscles and my abs. As a side note I would say that jumping rope will help you in your quest to get super-ripped abs. Your core really works hard because you have to use your abs to stabilize your entire body to help you move your body through the air.
How Jumping Rope Helps the Body Release Fat Burning Hormones.
HGH is a natural hormone released by your body to burn body fat. You may have seen many ads for pills that will help increase your natural HGH rate. It was very popular about 5 years ago, but you haven't heard much about HGH. High levels of HGH in your body are the fastest way to burn body fat! Unfortunately, low intensity cardio will not help your body release HGH. The best way to improve HGH is to do high-intensity cardio for 30-60 seconds or more, followed by a one or two minute walk or low intensity cardio. This is called High Intensity Training.
What Kind of Buy?
I suggest getting a "speed rope" ... this runs around $ 15 at the best sports shops. They are plastic beads without beads. You also don't want to buy heavy ropes. Get adjustable jump rope. You will want to adjust the rope to the optimum level to jump quickly without hitting your head. If it's too long, you won't be able to jump at a fast pace.
How to Adjust High:
Set your rope on the ground
Stand at the center point of the rope (equal distance between the holders)
Take your hand and pull them to your chest while standing on the rope
If the top of the handle reaches your collar bone then the strap is too long
If the top of the handle reaches the upper or lower abs, the rope is too short
I like adjusting the straps so the handle hits about 6 inches below my collar bone
If in doubt, go a little too long and shorten the straps a bit as you gain more experience
The First Two Weeks of Your Program, Take the Time to Learn Skills
Most beginners "bounce two" between rounds. This actually allows them to rest less and also their calf muscles between rotations and that means they have a lower fitness level. You will want to jump cleanly between each turn and keep your abs and core tight.
Your arms should not move when you jump. The rope round should come from the wrist movement. If you want to increase the speed of the spin, simply increase the tension of the spine that makes your wrist (this will make sense when you start jumping rope). The goal of the first two weeks of jumping rope is to work up to a point where you can jump rope for 5 solid minutes without having to stop and start over. This means that if you need to stop because the rope keeps your feet moving, you must start from zero. You also want to jump between ropes, so it looks like you're walking.
15 Great Minutes Exercises That You Can Adjust to Your Inclination
Stand in front of a clock or timer
Jump Rope for 3 minutes to warm up
Rest for 30 seconds
Jump rope as fast as possible for 60 seconds
Rest for 30 seconds
Jump Rope as fast as 60 seconds
Rest for 30 seconds
Repeat this pattern for 15-20 minutes
Note: For the 60 second shot, you can do it by running, you can learn how to rotate the rope twice for each jump, and so on. As you progress, you will be able to make 60 second very intense shots. Also, if you want to take advantage of fast heart rate and burn more body fat, hit the treadmill or exercise bike for 20-30 minutes after your jump rope workout. Oh yeah ... you might need a towel ... you have to sweat like crazy!
