2. Give or decrease your alcohol intake. The evidence of alcohol and fertility is still inconclusive but a small study shows women who drink less than 5 alcoholic drinks a week are twice as likely to become pregnant as those who drink 10 or more.

3. Research around caffeine mixed but if you have difficulty conceiving then cut down on caffeine in all its forms - strong coffee, tea and chocolate. It has been linked to low fertility in some studies.

4. Increase your portion of fruits and vegetables from the recommended 5 daily, to 8 parts daily fruits and vegetables. Doing organic ensures that it contains low levels of pesticides and higher nutrient content than inorganic.

5. Increase your fluid intake. Research has shown that most of us do not drink enough fluids every day and that we are all slightly dry. Drinking up to eight glasses of distilled water or herbal / fruit tea will help eliminate toxins.

6. Eat small portions and at regular intervals (about 2 & 3 hours) will help maintain your blood sugar level. This will help to prevent an excessive decrease in blood sugar that can release too much adrenaline. As a result this can block progesterone, which keeps pregnancy.

7. Increase zinc in your diet. It's important for fertility. It ensures quality sperm production and can reduce the risk of miscarriage. Peanut butter, pumpkin seeds and crab meat are all good sources of Zinc. Good quality supplements are available in most good chemists. Remember to consult a pharmacist about your individual condition.

8. Vitamin B intake is also important. B6 helps balance hormones and can be found in sunflower seeds, lentils, bananas, chickens, white fish and canned salmon. Although B12 is required for cellular reproduction. It can also increase sperm count. Sardin, goat, chicken, Marmite and Cheddar cheese are all good sources. It is often difficult to get the level of nutrition alone and again supplements may be needed. Discuss your needs with your pharmacist.

9. Try to convert all animal products to organic. Energy is inorganic and satisfying contains antibiotics and growth hormones.

10. Keep your system clean. Eat more fiber, which is important for fertility because it keeps your stomach healthy. Do this by eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and whole foods.
